Cupcakes

This is a little card I made on one of the snow days last week.  I'm trying my hand at embellishing and adding some 3-dimensional effects to my cards.  I'm also experimenting with different colors of papers I have stock piled in my craft area.  The date is wrong as my camera is stuck on this date and doesn't want to let it go.   

For You Birthday Card

This is my first card made with my Cricut Provo Craft I got for Christmas.  I used the George catridge that came with the Cricut to cut out, "For You.  The Die Cut birthday cake was one I had cut on the roller cutter at work so I'm not sure who makes it.  The date is wrong on the picture so please ignore the date. 

It's Back to Work Today

It's back to work for me today after having Christmas vacation from December 23-January 3 then kids getting sick all last week and to top it off having snow days the last two days.  I don't know if you know this but most teachers really do love their jobs.  As much as I love spending time with my own children, I also love coming to work.  When I came into my classroom this morning there were cards, a jewelry party invitation, and lots of mail to open but there were several emails I hadn't read, all hoping my family was feeling better and how much the kids missed me while I was gone.  That was before 7:55 a.m. then the kids came down the hall screaming "Mrs. Gehrt is back" and "Look it's Mrs. Gehrt" squealing with delight.  I feel blessed everyday that I have a job like the one I have.  Even after twelve years of teaching the same grade in the same school, I can still say I love my job. 
I have put up tobacco and hay in the fields, waited tables, sold shoes, worked fast food, and at Wal-mart.  I don't feel like teaching kindergarten is a job.  Where else can you find a job where the people you work around make you laugh and smile every 15 minutes, they make you artwork and self portraits everyday, they are always upbeat and never have a negative thing to say about you or another person, and they live their lives to play. 
Yes, I love those days off but I also love coming to work!  My J-O-B, (Joyous Occupation of Babes)!

A little girl made this picture for me today.  My house is the purple house right in the center of the earth.  Her house is the top left blue house right next to Santa's in the North Pole :)

Sparkles

This is one of my new cards.  I'm new to card making, embossing, stamping, and everything else crafty on blogging.  Here is my, "Sparkles" card for those, "Just because" occasions.  I'm a teacher so I like to leave cards for my secret pal, someone who is having a bad day, or someone going through a tough time.  This is one of those cards that can be given for any of these occasions.

The First Snow Day of 2011

The snow was just beautiful and so peaceful coming down today.

I guess the date isn't set on my camera...

 The kids came in and wanted hot chocolate.  I make a huge batch each winter and store it in a gallon size ice cream tub.

1 (8 qt.) box of powdered milk

1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar

1 (1 lb.) box Nestle's Quick Chocolate Drink Mix
1/2 cup Cocoa

1 large jar powdered coffee creamer

Mix together and store in an air tight container.  Mix 5 heaping teaspoons with 1 cup of hot water.  Add spray whipped cream and a dash of cocoa on top with a peppermint stick for added flavor.  Yummy for warm tummies!
